Aereo Launches in Dallas, New Expansion Plans Announced
by Karl Bode 08:02PM Tuesday Sep 24 2013
On the heels of last week's launch in Houston, streaming TV provider Aereo today announced they've also launched in the Dallas market. Locals there can now access KDFW (FOX), KXAS-TV (NBC), WFAA (ABC), KTVT (CBS) and KERA-TV (PBS), as well as COZI-TV, ME-TV, UniMas, Telemundo, EstrellaTV, ION, The CW, AntennaTV, Qubo, and Bloomberg Television. Aereo has also announced (pdf) that they've added four new cities to their nationwide expansion plans: Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; Indianapolis, Indiana; and San Antonio, Texas. Dates for those cities will be announced later this year.

For how much longer? The original launch date was Sept 13 and it's the 25th. Hmmmm.

We want Aereo in Charlotte area. Now all I need is an Apple Tv app and I'm golden.

Re: please

Do we have a similar legal loophole here? Our rules really do seem to protect the interest of the cableco's.

I also think Southern Ontario is the only place in Canada where you get a decent number of OTA channels. It's close enough to the States to pick up US channels and the CDN ones.

Vancouver has a few OTA stations you can pick up a few from Bellingham (but not the major US networks).

The US seems to have a way better OTA system than we do. I probably wouldn't bother with cable if I lived in Soutern Ontario or a city in the US.

More devices

If I could watch on my PS3 or Android phone or tablet, even through the browser, I would have signed up already.

Re: what is it good for?

The funny thing is filmon is free. Not only that but with filmon or aereo you can disconnect your expensive cable and get your tv shows on the internet and with skype you don't need phone service either.
