, streaming live TV provider Aereo this week released their new Aereo streaming app for Android. The app's available in the Google Play store
and is technically in beta, only supporting devices running Android 4.2 or later. Aereo's currently available in Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Salt lake City, New York and Boston. Detroit is expected to join the list of launch cities next week
, with a slew of additional markets expected before the end of the year including Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
Re: Cannot create account I agree... each person is going to have their own needs/wants. So Aereo might be worth it to some. However, I'm thinking it's going to fill the needs of only a few. Aereo's service is basically an antenna for free, OTA broadcasting (free). It also offers storage so those shows can be watched whenever... and where ever. I see the main service as being able to store shows and allow them to be view from multiple devices. How large of a market, at $8/month, will this have?
Netflix offers _far_ greater content. While these are older movies and shows, I still think the have a great demand. As I mention, for people who may have never watched these old shows, they might as well be brand new. Since the volumn of content is so great, I think this appeals to far more people then Aereo will.
Aereo's main drawback is that a _lot_ of people can (and do) get their content for free anyway. Well, that and there is just so much crap on OTA broadcast these days.
