The military had the right idea by banning it's use. If it's a security threat, then Apple/Google should do the right thing but you can't just can a popular app because it leaked personal info. Collecting it and using it for bad reasons is another story. Where I work, we do not allow users to put anything non-work-related on their phones. We had one lady who kept trying to put TikTok and Instagram on her work phone. She got reprimanded twice. Told next time, she loses her phone, which takes away her hotspot, which means she can't go out in the field to work, which means... yep, bye-bye. It's in the employee handbook. No unauthorized applications or use of company-supplied cell phones or computers. She can use her personal phone if she wants. But those sites are blocked on our open WiFi anyways.
