| | | said by Linklist:Apple keeps losing these suits overseas. The only place they keep winning is with Lucy Koh and her home court rulings in her Calif courtroom.
If the Brits really wanted to right the wrong Apple did to Samsung, the British courts would ban the sale of ALL Apple products in the UK until the California ruling mirrored theirs.

And if the UK case had a jury of some kind(dunno if UK civil cases have an equal to a Jury) I doubt the foreman was a patent owner who also had previously been sued by a division of Samsung. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

I'm not saying anyone should get to patent the idea of a square. And there were plenty of SciFi references to "tablet" devices long before Jobs was out of diapers. (they were just props, 'tho)

Second of all the internal guts are definitely different over all even though some chips are shared because SAMSUNG made them.
|
| | | Of course Apple had to photoshop the Galaxy Tab to make it similar in size and dimensions to the iPad. That speaks volumes. | |

| Re: LOL and when they run photos of both side by side That's because Sony didn't wait for Panasonic to design a set that was marketable and then copy the snot out of it including how the guide pages flipped. Samsung even copied the box's color scheme. Samsung is a 2nd run operation, a very valid and common marketing model and they're hugely successful doing it. There is nothing wrong with being a second run company. Virtually all companies are second run. It's low risk and you can fix mistakes made by the first runner. As soon as someone comes to market with a hit product, everyone copies it...close enough to have similar success, but different enough to not get sued. Samsung got a bit too similar and they're changing it a bit...more differentiation. Big deal. If you want a product identical to an iPad, buy an iPad...I think differentiation is good. I don't want every product to look and operate the same. I want to see innovation or changes from second run companies, gives us more options for features and design.
Look at the 4 door coupe concept. Mercedes CLS wasn't the first with this type of design, but once seen as a market and styling success, everyone rolled out their own version like the Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, and VW CC. Some would say those other models are even superior to the CLS. Where they would go afoul is if they copied the grill design, taillight design, wheel design...sure the profile is a bit different, but nearly all the details were identical, they'd be getting sued. But yeah, they all have steering wheels, they all have 4 tires, they all have a very generally similar profile but that is where the similarities end. Every detail is different in these automobiles giving customers choice, lots and lots of choice.
