Australian ISPs Fight Back Against 'Net Filters Telstra, Internode won't participate in tests of new system... Thursday Dec 11 2008 09:24 EDT Telstra and Internode, two of Australia's largest ISPs, now say they won't participate in tests of a massive new filtering plan by the Australian Government. The plan, one of the most elaborate and expensive filtration efforts ever attempted, will include two blacklists -- one which filters illegal material (no opt-out) and another that filters material deemed offensive by the Australian government (users can opt out). The nation's largest ISP, iiNet, has said they'll participate -- but only to clearly illustrate to the Australian government how technically impossible and " stupid" the program is. |

Aussie ISP's doing the right thingISP's should be nothing more than a dumb pipe provider and nothing more. Let governments and private institutions deal with the legalities of going after people who do things wrong with their content, not the dumb pipe provider. | |
