Bath field to host thousands of flags to honor veterans

BATH — Kelley Field will take on a different look this weekend. The city of Bath will be one of four Maine locations to host a Veterans' Day Healing Field ceremony Sunday, and the change from green grass to red, white and blue will begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

That is when the state's American Legion is hoping the community will turn out to help decorate Kelley Field — at the McMann Field sports complex — with some of Maine's 26,000 eight-foot-tall American Flags. Other Healing Fields will be set up in Rockland, Augusta and Portland.
