SAN FRANCISCO -- Bay Area Rapid Transit workers are set to walk off the job July 6 if they cannot agree with management on a new contract.

Union leaders announced the strike deadline Tuesday night after a hearing of four Bay Area county labor councils to consider whether to sanction a BART strike.

"Our strike captains are ready, our picket signs are ready and our members are ready to walk off the job," said Josie Mooney, executive director of Service Employees International Union 790, which represents about 1,450 of BART's 2,700 union workers.

BART Strike

I seen these staion agents in action. They sit
on their asses, and talk on cell phones all day.
$60K + benefits for what everybody else gets charged
rent for.

Fire them all, and put some honest people to work.

Re: BART Strike

The strike will only create more rancor between BART and the passengers. Even their PR department will not be able to fix it. That is why BART is hemorraghing because people are fed up with BART's problems.

So, how many agents do you know personally? Have you ever worked as one? Big judgements, but only ranting to back them up.
