1 edit | Trial? I hate that. Either make it free for 1 year or don't offer it at all. After 90 days it will just bitch 'buy me!'

Just like the trials of Norton or McAfee that come with new computers. People think "Yea, I got AV protection.", when actually their subscription for new updates ended 2 years ago. I have actually ran into that with people, more than once.

| | Yeah ok... I'm more interested in a firmware upgrade for the router to fix issues not a firware downgrade... | |

| | Isn't it kind of contradictary To offer a software firewall with the product you are selling is supposed to provide the same protection via hardware. I mean some would even say better protection (firewall that is) with a router than software firewalls.
I bet a lot of people here don't even use a software firewall if they are behind a router.. -- "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots"

Well, I may be one of the few, but I have a router or two and I always use a software firewall. I have more then one computer hooked up and if something should get into one, the firewalls on the other computers should stop most things crawling around.

I've tried the cox security suite. (I have cox internet) I don't know what other ISPs are providing but I really didn't like it. It would continuously ask if it was ok to update anything to do with the security suite. I poked around it to turn off some of the notifications but it is too dumbed down to be of any use.
Right now I use McAfee Security Suite. As a DoD employee I get free use of McAfee Security Suite, to include all future updates. That is until my enlistment is up or they change their policy. It may not be the best but at least it's better then nothing.
I'm not a computer guru like some, but I've read here and there that the best security is to have both a hardware and a software firewall.
