LAS VEGASAlthough Buffalo Technology introduced the AirStation Wireless Secure Remote Gateway (WZR-RS-G54) in early November, 2004, CES was a perfect place to showcase its capabilities. At first glance, the WZR-RS-G54 looks just about like any other wireless 802.11G router with four switched 10/100 Ethernet ports. But Buffalo Technology added several new features that many small business and home network users have been clamoring forRemote Access and Remote control.
The WZR-RS-G54 has a built-in PPTP server that allows remote users to securely tunnel into the private network behind its firewall. Using the built-in VPN client in either Windows XP, or Mac OSX, users can securely connect to their home networks and have layer 2 access to them. Once connected via the VPN, remote users can access all of the resources on their home or small office network.
