Cablevision Eyes T-Mobile Partnership
As Company Opposes AT&T T-Mobile Deal
by Karl Bode Wednesday 03-Aug-2011 tags: business · wireless · alternatives · bandwidth · Cablevision · wireless
In a filing to the FCC opposing the AT&T and T-Mobile merger, Cablevision states that the company hoped to work with T-Mobile to offer wireless services to Cablevision customers. "Cablevision has been actively exploring expanding its mobile Wi-Fi service to incorporate traditional cellular broadband service as a canopy to complement its existing Wi-Fi service," says Cablevision in the filing. "Cablevision envisions offering a complete package of mobility services that would employ Wi-Fi and cellular broadband interchangeably and seamlessly." Cablevision tells Fierce Wireless that the AT&T deal would "eliminate T-Mobile as the key wholesale provider needed to enable new companies to enter the wireless telephony market."

Cablevision ever hear of Sprint?

Sprint is in the wholesale market and is the biggest player for MVNOs.

And you'll be charged $24.95 for the service in addition to monthly subscription fee.

Cablevision mobile

OK, since I already take advantage of their WI-FI. (I"m an internet subscriber), I would do this, but only if they would beat what I'm already getting from AT&T.

How about unlimited everything for say, $40.00? You can already get unlimited everything from AT&T for $50.00....

lightsquared?

It was my impression that the cable industry was going to piggy back on the lightsquared deal to resell service...

Trying to join Tmobile/AT$T is not a good idea.. it sends the wrong message about supporting competition and innovation. No worries, the Islander's leaving Long Island aint' the end of the world... Cablevision can find another company and run it into the ground for tax purposes.

please do give a good fight cablevision

I can honestly see this as a lesser of 2 evels... I do believe on a cost structure platform its more affordable to Partner with Tmobile than with sprint even given sprints soon to be vamped up LTE platform. Tmobile just has A little more coverage than sprint and there HSPA network can max out at 84mbps. Sprint still has no decided path for there data network at the moment. the basic LTE that att/verizon/ and if ever sprint will max out at 100mbps, unless some one decides to go the Advanced LTE route ( which they wont for now).

Heck id rather see Cablevision, WOW, Brighthouse, and Comcast all join together ( cold day in Hell) and purchase TMobile than let ATT have it.
PS Im a ATT (dsl), Tmobile (Cell) ,and comcast (Cable) customer.

At&t and Tmobile>>>>

Aug. 4. I don't think it should be allowed. Now the two big

airline companies after merging are raising fares and rewriting

contracts with T agents and Wholesale agents.. Bigger does

not mean better service for better prices.
