Customer interactionI'm pretty disappointed with how Cablevision interacts with their customers, considering that some privileged customers get favorable pricing breaks, while the rest of us take it up the butt.
Perhaps their "commitment to transparency" (ha, ha) will cause them to reveal that my neighbors are paying less than I do for more and better services. | |

Re: Customer interactionThe fact that, if they don't offer really attractive rates in FiOS areas, there won't be many CV customers in those areas, while the same isn't true in areas where Verizon only has DSL.
At least you aren't in an area where you've got Comcast outside of FiOS territory. Right now Comcast's mid-tier speeds are double the speed for the same amount of money in FiOS areas vs. not. You wanna talk about customer satisfaction etc., there's your case in point. Then again, where Comcast competes against CenturyLink...well...they don't have much competition. | |

He probably just bought at a different time, when a different promotion was available, in a different zip code, and he probably negotiated a better deal, i.e. with retentions.
Like it or not (I certainly don't), broadband and pay-tv pricing requires the customer to act in his own best interest, and be savvy consumer. People who count their pennies take the time to inquire regularly, as to "what's available", and renegotiate their rate-plan whenever it is most favorable. For others who may not pay as close attention, they may end up paying the rack rate (list price) when their initial promotion expires 3/6/12 months later. Mark your calendar!
But its not a conspiracy, there aren't an elite group of customers. | |

Btw, they've experimented with the logo before, I think it was "BLUE" sort of representing their favor of Democrats on Long Island after failing to block FIOS in NY metro. Verizon--which has the RED logo (apparently predictive of their supporting the Republican corporate agenda).. (There was a blue halo in the "O" of optimum before)
The only thing that people care about is offering better service at a cheaper price. In the early days of FIOS, people were willing to put up with alot of crap just because 15/2 on fiber beat 15/2 on cable ANY DAY OF THE WEEK-- now? Not so much anymore.. the dfference between cable & fttp isn't all that big based on price per bit and QOS (assuming you have a docsis 3 modem). YMMV with either service.. caveat emptor based on my value criteria.. especially if you get roped into a contract. | |

I can't see spending $150+ for substandard Internet and over compressed TV. | |

It's a foregone conclusion that while the Northeast is brimming with fiber, upstate NY needs more new conduits! If Verizon offers a better price/deal go ahead.. but it's likely Cablevision will offer some discount if service is really "bad". Maybe they can improve the service and/or split the node.. there shouldn't be more than 150 customers on a (fiber-coax hybrid) node.. 300+ customers was a build density from 2005. If either Comcast, or Cablevision go fttp, it's likely the rest of the industry would too.. because it would bring the price of equipment & deployment down.. | |

Looks ehhhhhhhh.Looks dull. Doesn't even look like the same company. As for the screwing over some customers and how some other customers get an exclusive deal... like what another person said, services like these, the customer has to go hunt for the deal. If you called and they didn't give you any promotion or what not, cancel and look for another. 99% of the time, the customer service will try to retain you by offering you something that they said they couldn't until you threat to cancel. I don't like the practice, but honestly, its the only thing that works to get a deal. Unless you're a new customer, then there are promos that benefit that group of people.
Old customers get screwed that's how it is. I was in that role years ago with DirecTV, got out of it and signed on a triple play deal with Optimum. I'm paying less for TV, Internet and phone currently than those who have signed on with Optimum triple play for longer, does that mean I'm all of a sudden in the "elite" group? No, it means I'll be paying full price when the promotion is over, just like you once were in the group I am in. That is all. | |

Honesty?A commitment to honesty and transparency, like how they joined the NCTC, a co-op for mostly rural cable systems, just to get the Tennis Channel on the sports tier without negotiating directly with them as at the time they only wanted to be on a wider tier. Only to drop it a year later when the new contract with the NCTC called for wider carriage and telling their customers to blame the Tennis Channel and not themselves for refusing to agree to terms that the NCTC negotiated on behalf of all the member systems. | |

Doesn't stand out, wasted time and moneyThe new logo is.. aside from bland, just terrible.
It looks like all the other rebrands to simplicity that keep going on in present time.
Used to be easy to spot since it was actually a logo, but now it's just text and can be nearly invisible unless it's a huge point. It won't stand out anymore.
Still, so much wasted money for a rebrand that they could've used to improve their network. Goes to show you what their focus is.. | |
