| Nothing in my town Cablevision has ZERO hotspots in my town. Zero, ziltch, nada. Not that I care, because I'm not a Cablevision customer. Cablevision's service is too expensive for me.
Note to Cablevision: I don't want DOCSIS 3.0 or WiFi. I want cheaper prices!

You won't see cheaper prices from any broadband company lol why would they slash prices when they can get away with rate hikes every 6 months. -- Assuming Direct Control.

Optimum Online has been the same price for at least the past 5 years, with the only changes being increases in the speed tiers (10/1 to 15/2). TV is another story. But with people still buying en masse, a cheaper-but-slower option isn't going to happen.

| | | I have cablevision for internet only, their cable product is expensive and overly compressed. However I have to say that I find optimumwifi ap's all over the place on my iphone. | |
|
| | | | Re: Nothing in my town Even their Internet is expensive. $50 / month without TV! $600 / year is too rich for me. | |

|
| | | | | Yes their internet is expensive at $50 a month without TV but my other option is FIOS which starts at $55/ month without TV.
So as someone who is trying to watch there budget cablevision is the better choice and I do enjoy the wifi

Suggest the local Starbuck's...here they offer free Wi-Fi now.

| | who cares about cablevision wifi? wimax and lte will be here in ny and nj within weeks....then cablevision's wifi will be useless! | |
|
| | | Re: who cares about cablevision wifi? When you consider the per byte billing and overages that are coming with LTE it's not so useless.
wimax doesn't have the overages but there in building coverage sucks

·WOW Internet and..
| and who is going to deploy this LTE network you speak of? VZ? And with what equipment will the end user be using? They keep spouting off about building this "network" but still haven't shown the public any enduser devices. Talk about about a great network and company eh?
As far as WiMax you can bet that Clear will be there before VZ and their hype machine. And Clear, Sprint and all their reseller ISPs will be largely unlimited except for VZ. But you can keep your over priced and capped network they offer.
CV will out do VZ very easily. All they gotta do is call Clear and start offering their services on that next. -- www.twopugsbrand.com Kosher, Vegan, and Organic Certified Dog and Cat treats/foods and other products! www.etsy.com/shop/snakx4u/ Organic, Kosher, Gluten Free, Vegan Human Baked Goods

| | hmm with optimum wifi if the ap's are on their own frequency they can up the speeds anytime they want since docsis 2 goes up to 38 down and like 15 on the upload.
I use it all the time on long island since att's tower stink here. att's towers in a lot of places are serviced by t1's so optimum wifi is faster most of the time.
|
| | upgrade to "N"... I wanna see some N routers being used.. g is too slow | |

ryan200 join:2003-06-10 Pine Bush, NY | dsl vs cable competitive i wonder do they offer a cheaper option, i know rr used to only have the one tier but have since added cheaper tiers, the real question is is the cheaper tier better than your dsl option in your area.
in other words are they being competitive.
i know if they had an option just as cheap as dsl and faster it would be the no brainer, dsl is expensive and slow last time i checked in my area, and of course a package deal is only good if you want what is in the pacakge.

| FIOS in NJ? Stalled, no more build-out anticipated FIOS is growing but they are strictly working on getting higher take-up rates in the areas they already covered, they are not going to 'cover' the state (NJ or NY) as they said they would when they badgered lawmakers to give them an exception to local town by town licensing.
CV one of the few major players who is NOT talking about caps, tiered pricing by gigabyte or other dis-incentives.
Reasonably priced internet, overpriced VOIP, and market rate TV that includes HD without extra charges.
Free Wifi for all internet customers with up to 5 nics per email id and a deal with TWC and Comcast to share those systems' growing wifi spots. Free WiFi is a good thing since ATT already dropped their 'all you can eat' unlimited plans for mobile and are forcing people who upgrade to data heavy smartphones to go to higher priced limited 200mb/mo plans. (Hey bobcat, $600 a year for unlimited 10/2 service too much? How's 7.2mb - maybe 3mb in real life for $15/mo but limited to less than 5G per year? Or 2G/mo for $25? Is $300 for 24GB a GOOD DEAL? NO!)
In addition, to free wifi -- if you have all 3 services, CV will give you a discount card for their other businesses. CV owns Clearview Cinemas and Tues will get you 2 free tickets (used to be 4), and discounted tickets at all other times. CV owns Radio City and CV customers can discounted Xmas Show. CV owns the Beacon Theater, discounts for that too. They used to have a electronics store, The Wiz, and they still sell slightly discounted electronics to Optimum Rewards customers. They have made agreements with Hershey Park/Hotels, Six Flags, and dozens of other 'family friendly' businesses and museums in the greater Metro NY area for discounts. Plus if you register for the Rewards, you get $20 off your entire CV bill. (Used to be $25).
Yes the Dolans suck, especially when it comes to the Knicks. But you know, they have a rather interesting business viewpoint that keeps a lot of their customer base happy and they have been at the cutting edge of the market. They don't spend a lot of time telling everyone about these extras either.
Now, if they would spend a little more time, splitting up the heavy use nodes and general maintenance on the system's lines as a whole, there would a whole lot less bitchin' on the forums. -- »www.Warpstock.org
