Caltrain trial scheduled to begin San Bruno man claims rail agency at fault in son's death By Ethan Fletcher - » www.sfexaminer.com/articles/2005···ain.txt SAN BRUNO More than four years after a speeding train killed his 16-year-old son, a San Bruno man should finally get the chance to prove his claim that the railroad agency was responsible for the accident. The civil trial of Michael Bulnes Sr. vs. Caltrain is scheduled to officially begin today. Bulnes charges that Caltrain should be held liable for ignoring repeated complaints about the safety of the train intersection at San Bruno and San Mateo avenues in San Bruno where Michael Bulnes Jr. was killed Oct. 16, 2000.

1 edit | Accident Mike, did you read the full article? His son got his his foot stuck inside of a pothole and possibly had broken his leg while crossing the tracks at a crossing. There had been a number of complaints regarding the state of that railroad crossing prior to this accident.
The suit is for Caltrain failing to properly maintain the crossing; including leaving large unfilled potholes around the tracks and construction debris that obstructed views for pedestrians.

Why did he not use another crossing? If he wasn't sure a train was coming, why did he just not double and triple check the line, listen, look, etc.? You should expect a train at any time on any crossing, if you fail to keep that in mind, and fail to be safe, things like this do and will continue to happen. -- See the BOOMING railroads of today, and tommorrow@ »www.gorail.org/ See HEAVY DUTY freight and passenger action @ the Galesburg, IL Rail Cam! »205.245.189.161:1100/
