How Nice of ThemWell, as long as they're upping my rate in the name of increasing the "value" of my already craptacular connection, I'm perfectly OK with it. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't increased rates sooner. The vast majority of CTL's footprint lies in underserved areas with limited or no competition. Meanwhile, we haven't sniffed a speed increase in years, and I've been battling high latency/low bandwidth for most of the time I've been a customer. Fantastic.

Not surprisingI'm struggling to find the logic that increasing the price on a service that is absolutely abysmal somehow increases value. It's not like that extra 10% will go into improving their network. Centurylink is the most mismanaged company in the business.

It´s a great cover up for ¨we have too much debt and need to raise prices so we can pay it off because we bit off more than we could chew when we bought Quest.¨

Value?Thank you for the decreased value of my dollar for the same service. Why do you seem to think that works the opposite way CenturyLink?

Re: Right...Don't you just know that who ever wrote that piece of BS copy about "providing our customers with "value" must have been laughing as he penned it.
I mean hopefully some CenturyLink customers will "call them on this nonsensical piece of double speak" right?
I would. | |

Re: Right...From the sound of the national news, I guess Boehner and Obama can say they are going to be providing "value" in January.

All customers should call CenturyLink and fightwith them about it. I thought I could only do this with DirecTV hikes but having had Verizon & AT&T, I called and fought against almost all hikes and eventually got compensated something for it...usually an amount that just about covered the increase.
Now, I did not always do this because I did not mind paying more a few times when I felt like the actual product improved since the previous price hike.
But, that is rare. | |

What about 3 yr price guarantee?Has this story actually been verified or is it just a rumor? It seems odd since they are advertising a 3 yr price guarantee here in the Phoenix area.

Re: Rates will not increaseThat's funny, because I work for a CLEC and one of our business customers who also has some services with CenturyLink received a written letter regarding a 10% increase in their rates.
Something is going on over there. Why would you erroneously send out an email for a rate increase unless you were planning on increasing rates? That letter had to exist somewhere for some reason...

This should do away with thier remaining phone customers..Seems like a strange way to hang on to the few remaining home phone users already questioning why they have land line phones when making most of their calls on cell phones anyway. If this is true, it will probably make up my mind finally.

CenturylinkSuspect they are trying to get rid of those who won't bundle?
OTA TV is OK by me, and I prefer TMO cell service to a central phone system.

Going broke? The writing is on the wall. CenturyLink can't keep spending money and keep loosing customers.
Pots customers are going away to other and better technologies.
One day someone has to admit that obsolete ideas must evolve or die. Copper lines have reached the end of life and someone needs to admit it.
ATT is moving their services to UVerse to keep up with technology.

Doesn't surprise me.Since their big ploy the last two years has been "Sell internet at $19.95/mo !-IF-! bundled with $28.90-with-tax/mo old-fashioned phone service." (Or, whatever it is now. Colorado regulators recently allowed them to hike the price about $3/mo.)

Cancel your service..And join the year of 2012 and get cablemodem. DSL is garbage. I live in a nice area and they can't even offer me anything faster over 3 meg DSL. They suck. Maybe if enough people cancel they'll actually care more about upgrading their infrastructure, so the city can actually get their true high speeds.
