Hours after his release from jail, a man accused in a fatal accident that resulted from a clothes dryer dropped onto I-75 had official charges filed against him.

Clayton County Solicitor Keith Martin handed down a three-count accusation against Jose Gonzales: Homicide by vehicle in the second degree, operating a vehicle without an adequately secured load, and a restricted driving permit violation. Gonzales had been limited to driving only to school, the doctor, and work.

Authorities said Gonzales is the person videotaped at a Home Depot store purchasing a dryer that later fell off his truck and onto I-75 on March 8.

Michael Hall, an assistant dean at Clark Atlanta University, swerved to avoid hitting the dryer that blocked his lane on the interstate. His SUV flipped and Hall died of his injuries. His two young sons, who were traveling with him, suffered minor injuries.
