| Whats the point? Whats the point of cable companies whipping out DOCSIS 3.0 if they cannot support customers with what they have now? Seriously I mean come on whats the point of having 100mbit downloads if you have these retarded caps? Do they really think they are being innovative by making the pipes bigger and then saying hey you can't use all of it??? | |

| | | | Re: Whats the point? Dks7, Im sure that he isnt worried about how well your service performs. He is worried about how his performs and its true that just because his works that way it doesnt mean everyone elses does but guess what, HE ISNT PAYING FOR EVERYONE ELSES SERVICE. He pays for his. Because of that simple fact im sure he would like for it to work the way it should. | |

Well if the excuse for caps is not enough bandwidth to go around isn't docsis 3.0 suppose to alleviate that problem?

| | provisioning? "Cable Digital News says that cost estimate doesn't include the cost of new modems, nor does it include the cost of provisioning those modems."
Does it cost money to actually send a config file to a modem (or am I just interpreting this incorrectly)?

| Re: provisioning? They have to find a company to buy from, test, negotiate contracts, register the modems with their network and get the modems to people. That's provisioning modems and any other sort of equipment for you in a nutshell. | |
|
| | Laughable This is nothing but marketing glitter, looks great in the press. "select markets" bs. I would like for them to get some of the markets they have ignored up to date on things as simple as HD TV and DVR service of which I have none. | |
|
| | | Re: Laughable They don't offer HD or DVR in your area, at all? If so, that does suck. I thought that was a given in all Charter service areas. | |

| | hey i am no expert on cable networking, but isnt the digital cable and hd boxes still based on docsis, if so upgrading to docsis 3 means more bandwidth to house for multiple hd recivers, ect. at least by how i think it all works | |
|
| | | Re: hey I would like to know who determines what market they test in and what markets they will test in. I'm in the south and I get tired of getting everything 2 years after everyone else | |

I'm in the south and I get tired of getting everything 2 years after everyone else If you don't live in an area where FIOS is, you likely won't be in the early markets. FIOS is basically only on the East Coast and a few scattered areas in TX. So most of us won't see this upgrade anytime soon.

| | DOCSIS 3.0 It is of little consequence as Charter remains the worse customer service company in the USA for the fifth straight year. They have no plan to rectify the situation | |
