Charter's Finances Improve SlightlyNow about that customer service.... ( old news - 11:16AM Thursday Aug 02 2007) tags: business · cableIndustry whipping boy Charter has released their second quarter earnings report. The company reported a loss of $360 million compared to $382 million a year ago, while revenue rose 8% to $1.5 billion. The company saw a net addition of 60,300 broadband, 127,700 VoIP and 7,600 digital cable subscribers. Like Time Warner Cable and Comcast, the company saw a decline in basic analog cable subscribers to the tune of 29,300. "Charter's momentum in growing revenue generating units and delivering consistent operating results reflects a keen focus on our strategic priorities," says Charter CEO Neil Smit. Charter has been taking a beating in most consumer satisfaction surveys, and continues to fare poorly in our ISP review index. They've promised improvements, but they're not apparent just yet. But hey, the company does have a shiny new portal! Related:- Cable Uncapper Faces Criminal Charges

Television always works and I always pull my 10mb no matter what time of the day. I am always in a promo too by calling back. Other than that, Charter couldn't be any better in our area!

| I don't know about that... I have a nightly latency issue. I'll be playing BF2 and then BAM, kicked for high ping.
Plus, their bundle is a rip off. They don't have enough package choices to get what I want for the price I want. When I lived in Omaha, COX had a lot better service than Charter does here. -- Folding for our future!!

And tech support has no clue.
PS It's been this way for a better part of a year.

| The reason That charters earnings is increasing is because of me :P Im spending a fortune with them and they suck as bad if not worse now than they ever did. I wish the company could strike oil and come through with some of these promised fixes for their crappy networks. | |

| Re: Build it, and they will come. I am in the same boat Charter is only offering "digital cable" in Benton no frills or anything else. Bad thing is AT&T does not have DSL throughout the town or even close to the whole town. And Horizon Wireless is a huge freaking rip off. I wont use a service that makes me pay full price for equipment and lock me in for a year with the cancellation charge being the entire remaining portion of my contract. 60 dollars a month for 512k internet with a really low monthly cap like 10 gig if I remember right it might have been 5 gig would have to go back and look again.
Also Benton, AR
P.S. Benton, AR is not in the sticks by any means.

| Re: Build it, and they will come. Indeed. I've seen several people in benton that cannot get broadband. ATT DSL isn't everywhere. And charter won't build out, so, a lot of people in benton have to do without. Benton is a 20 minute drive from the capitol, and it and bryant are quite large. | |

| Sadly lacking I have charter cable, its off a small ANALOG head end and I am almost the end of the line. No digital anything, nothing forecast. We don't even have the History Channel. Its too expensive they say. Most any windy day I have white "static" on most channels. I call a trouble report about 3 times a week and nothing seems to help. Seeing this report, I don't have high hopes. | |

I'm a Charter Broadband Sales rep, and I appreciate your comments and your business. I like my job and work very hard for my customers. I believe in the company and the things senior management are doing to turn the company around.
It's a crazy business with a lot of competition, but when you factor in how cool VOD is and how 10 meg rocks, and how great the bundle deals are, well it just keeps getting better. I'm looking forward to when analog bandwidth is freed up and i think we'll be seeing a lot more channels, especially in HD, and the switched video thing looks promising.
Stay tuned. My family and I greatly appreciate your business.
