InfoWorld reports that "the U.S. Federal Trade Commision (FTC) is investigating Google’s proposed $3.1 billion purchase of DoubleClick" due to "concerns over privacy issues and the potential for anti-competitive practices." The privacy issues came to the forefront as a result of a complaint filed by the Electronic Privacy Information Center and the Center for Digital Democracy. The FTC is looking at all of the issues, but it’s the antitrust ones that are expected to pose the greater threat to the merger.
