Limiting unlimited bandwidth connections and selling porn have nothing to do with each other, I admit except, it all travels over the last mile of pipe and premium package cable subscriptions like porn, are more profitable to Comcast than the simple ISP connection. | |

Somebody had a STL transmitter and a high-gain antenna and simply overpowered the legit STL from some location line of site to the top of the Sears Tower. Which was a good trick, seeing that the WTTW studio is not all that far away !
I would imagine STL's are digital transmitters and encrypted in some way now. (Or they're all using fiber...)

It's cheaper to use STL's than running fiber. I'd say a majority of the stations use STL's and have upgraded them for more capacity for the HD channels.
