Comcast Considering Buying BSkyB
The Big May Get Even Bigger
Freshly massive after spending $13.8 billion to acquire NBC Universal last year, Comcast is now setting their sights across the pond, where they're rumored to be shopping for
British Sky Broadcasting Group, Britain’s largest satellite broadcaster. Anonymous sources tell the New York Times
the deal is only in its very preliminary stages of internal discussion, and that the company hasn't even approached BSkyB with an offer. Comcast vice chairman and chief financial officer tells the paper the rumor is "complete rubbish,” and "total speculation and inaccurate.” The fate of BSkyB has come under scrutiny over sees during News Corporation's problems relating to phone hacking, the Times
stating British regulators are investigating "whether Rupert Murdoch's media company is "fit and proper" to hold a broadcast license."
