Here in the Houston metro area, we had Time Warner/Road Runner service & they were bought out by Comcrap...errr, Comcast and let me tell you, the service is night & day different. It took them two weeks just to call me back to tell me if I could even get service in my subdivision that's at least 6 years old and I have friends down the street with their service. Then trying to get my own cable modem (which was the exact same model as the ones they hand out at the store front) I couldn't even get it online, for at least 4 weeks now....and I go get one of theirs, and it doesn't work about 90% of the time because the tech that came out initially didn't balance the connection or check for interference.
I have been transferred to every department & it never got resolved....I've went thru a few thousand 'roll over' minutes I had stored up on my cell phone....(i don't have a land line) so yes, it's VERY frustrating having to call back & get some NEW moron & having to spend countless amounts of time RE-explaining the situation because they are not adept enough to escalate you to someone that CAN fix the damn problem or at least have someone contact you that can.
I don't know HOW the hell they stay in business with the crappy customer service they have. | |

Stop Suggesting Cancellation, it's rarely an option!All of you idiots that said "why don't they just cancel" ever consider that Comcast may be their only option (nor that Comcast gives a crap if they lose one of their millions of customers)? Comcast exercises their monopoly muscles by allowing service to become crappy and not want to hire enough competent people to fix it in a timely manner (I atleased want it fixed in a few months not 1 year of phone calls and wasting my life for "routine maintenance" to finally fix it). Sometimes a company needs to get it's ass kicked to do something, especially when they are the only company that provides the affordable service that you need. Customers of the company just get stuck in the cross fire occasionally. I'm not condoning what the kid did, but I am agreeing that the general population of Comcast employee's are incompetent or don't have enough power to get something fixed, as with most big corporations. They need to take a little more responsibility when their systems break down. What the smart ass kid should have done was "try" to get a few neighbors with the same gripe and send it off to the local news station with a story of how hard he tried (if at all) to get Comcast to resolve the problem. I wasn't fortunate to have any neighbors that cared enough. | |

I was checking for voicemails from attorneys and rental opportunities, and there was a delay in me figuring out how to get my voicemails. Luckily: 1. I figured out how to get in using the text replacement they put up before I ran out of time budgeted for checking my voicemail. 2. No one left any messages, obviating the need to log in. Yes, Comcast should have better security, but fact of the matter is that now my ISP will be expending resources on making things bitchier rather than improving service, since most corporate security programs these days tend to be based upon bitchifying things more. In other words, their prank had the potential to cause real serious problems in peoples' lives. It didn't in mine, but it was extremely close to doing so. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually did for others. | |

I live in a comcast area i can not get thier service it would cost me $2,000 to install a line and the service will run me $99.95 a month becaue they have to run a line from the pole to the third floor where I live. I also do not like the invisable caps they have. Comcast's customer service sucks!!! | |

IE instead of hosing up everyone's email and so on, how about they simply:
Created a Spoof Comcast website detailing Comcast's service issues.... then done the DNS redirects for things like Comcast corporate site, etc etc
IE More like a protest and less like a denial of service. That way none of the customers would be affected but Comcast would still be embarrassed and it would still get media attention.... | |

Comcast should thank these guysThink about it. Imagine if these guys had truly bad intentions. They could have made a lot of money. Recover a bunch of users passwords (start with email) and off you go. Email Paypal that you lost your password and they send a confirmation email. Write a look a like portal for all the major banks. The list goes on and on. So showing a MAJOR security flaw in comcast's system at the loss of a few hours connection is really a bargain. These guy are just vandals. It is a PITA, but get over it and move on. | |

Hacking in the true sense of the word is making a pc or other piece of hardware do something it wasn't designed to do. Best way to stop this nonsense is, "before we change your domain sir, I'll have to call the number listed in the technical contact information" or "Please fax your authorization on company letterhead". Then call the # on that letterhead to be sure. No one should just be allowed to change a domain name because a voice on the phone says so.
