Comcast Employee Awarded for Being Inspirational Leader
Bay Area says Eddie Garcia is an inspiration to Latino community
by KathrynV Saturday 29-Sep-2007 tags: business · Comcast · Comcast
Eddie Garcia, Vice President of Government Affairs at Comcast, has been recognized by the Hispanic community in the San Francisco Bay Area for his leadership both within the cable company and within the larger community. The award comes from the San Francisco Business Journal and the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. They say that Eddie is innovative, inspirational and influential in the way that he mentors and motivates Comcast employees. Of course if you want to learn more about Eddie, you can do so through Comcast. They’re going to start offering his story on Comcast On Demand (at Channel One>Bay on Demand>Public Affairs) beginning on October 15.

Hmmm...

So, without RTFA, (too early, only 1/4 cup coffee consumed), why does THIS guy get the special treatment?

Ah dang, just re-read the the blurb and saw it was the comunity recognizing him. At first I thought it was CC and wondered why they would recognize him and not say, the guy who saved people when the bridge collapsed or any of the other CC employees that did something to help others.

I'll quit posting now untill I wake up more. Thank you and have a nice day, lol.

Hmm... Comcast has not deemed that this area is worthy of being able to receive On-Demand.

ignorance

I can't help but to notice how ignorant some of you guys are. I am Latino American and I am proud that our heritage and culture is being appreciated and not given all the negativity I've seen lately. Plus, we all are immigrants in some shape or form. I am happy for the guy......I'm sure he deserves it.

Re: ignorance

So if he wasn't hispanic would he still be recognized? Also, why does there need to be a "hispanic chamber of commerce?" Please don't start throwing stones until you look at all angles. One last thing, please stay away from the "we're all immigrants" argument. While I respect your opinion and do not disagree with your statement, I can debate it's relevance with you all day long.

Back on topic: it's nice to see that he is being honored for his hard work and dedication.

Re: ignorance

Playing "let's get back to the original topic" advocate, here's what it's about:
quote:
Today, the San Francisco Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Business Journal honored Comcast's Eddie Garcia as one of the top Latino Leaders in the Bay Area.

Garcia was recognized for his leadership skills both within the community and his company. At Comcast, the Bay Area's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, Garcia serves on the senior management team as Vice President of Government Affairs.

"Eddie is an innovative executive, an inspirational leader and influential role model," stated Karen Munro, Comcast's Regional Vice President, for Government Affairs. "Taking it upon himself to personally mentor and motivate employees to become involved in the community."
Take the race discussions elsewhere.

Interesting thing here...

When the story is positive, no one wants to chime in, really. When it's something against the company, it's 120 posts long.

What I find nice about this story is that it shows there is evidence that people really do care about what they do and who they do it for. (all along while people love to complain that it's all bad)

It's because most people agree and other than a DITTO or "I agree" type of response, it become redundant. With disagreements, it becomes a point-counterpoint discussion.
