Comcast P2P Buster Becomes Neutrality Celeb Topolski's discovery of Comcast throttling leads to advocacy gigs... Tuesday Mar 10 2009 16:30 EDT Back in May of 2007, a Broadband Reports user by the name of funchords made a simple post to our forums about how Comcast was covertly forging user packets in order to slow P2P uploads for all users. That user (whose real name is Robb Topolski), probably didn't know it at the time, but that post would result in an Internet firestorm, more than a year of mainstream press coverage, and ultimately culminate in an FCC investigation. Topolski, who helped us diagnose similar practices by Cox, has gone on to work for consumer groups Free Press and Public Knowledge on neutral network advocacy. According to Ars Technica, he's now joined the New America Foundation -- a group that's working with Google on a suite of ISP testing tools (previously discussed here). |

keep up the good workI could always tell he was a "for the people,by the people " kind of guy by the way he posts. And for that I applaud you for getting the acknowledgment you deserve. Keep up the good work Funchords , I enjoy your viewpoints and comments you have to offer. | |
