Comcast Says its New Mesh WiFi System Launching Nationwide
Comcast says the company's new mesh WiFi system is now available nationwide. Hoping to challenge vendors like Netgear and Google in the hot mesh WiFi space, Comcast recently unveiled new hexagon-shaped Wi-Fi extenders dubbed xFi Pods the company is now selling for $119 in three-packs and for $199 in packages of six. According to a company announcement, the pods plug into any electrical outlet, pair with either the xFi Wireless Gateway or the xFi Advanced Gateway, and help customers extend reliable WiFi coverage to hard-to-reach areas of their home.

They?re made by a company called Plume

They’re made by a company called Plume (»plumewifi.com ), and Bell Canada also uses them. You can also buy a standalone version (that doesn’t use a Comcast Xfinity gateway) if you’d like. Ars Technica did a review and behind the scenes on them as well. »arstechnica.com/gadgets/ ··· i-fi-hq/
