Comcast today stated that the speed increases it has been deploying on a market-by-market basis have wound their way to the Northeast. According to the Comcast announcement, Comcast says it's bumping the speed of its Blast! tier from 105 to 150 Mbps, while introducing a new Performance Pro speed tier of 75 Mbps in these markets.

According to Comcast, the new speeds and tiers will be available to the vast majority of new and existing customers in the Northeast starting later this month. Users will need to reboot their modems for the faster speeds to take effect.
“Today, our customers simultaneously connect to the Internet through multiple smartphones, tablets and laptops, and whether it’s to stream, shop, video chat, upload photos or do homework, we’re committed to ensuring they get the best overall experience with blazing fast speeds and the most Wi-Fi coverage, all delivered over our state-of-the-art network," the company proclaims.
There's still no word on Comcast's promised two gigabit upgrades, which were originally slated to launch in some markets at the end of May. Comcast has said it will upgrade around 18 million homes to "Gigabit Pro" speeds by the end of the year.
