And at least for the time being, Comcast is not enforcing any byte transfer caps.

joe_h join:2010-05-26 Las Cruces, NM | 50/10 may be coming everywhere I called Comcast yesterday to inquire about new customer specials (I'm currently a Centurylink customer with 40/20). I live in New Mexico. The rep explained to me that the blast tier (25/4) is available, but would be upgraded to 50/10 within a month. I asked if that was specifically just for NM, and was told that it was going in place "everywhere". I don't know if he was just trying to make a sale, but figured I'd pass the info along.
|
| | | Re: 50/10 may be coming everywhere I don't see how telling you it would be in effect everywhere would help him make the sale. | |

| | new speeds Here in fresno, performance got bumped to 25/5 and I believe they got rid of powerboost too. Im not too sure about the other parts of the state though | |
|
| | | Re: new speeds Chico has been bumped, my Performance is now 25/5 with a little bit of Powerboost still on the download up to 32/5. | |

| | Should i get a 3.0 modem? Hey guys i live in Lafayette, California and I paying for the triple play package (195/month). Currently I am getting a steady 36mb down and 6mb up. However I am using a DOCSIS 2.0 eMTA modem. Should I get a DOCSIS 3.0? Will there be a difference? | |

You need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem to see 50Mbps and above.

If you're paying the modem rental fee, you might as well exchange it, heck, it's free. You can change your modem out every month if you want to.
|
| | | | Re: Should i get a 3.0 modem? damn i just found out that i was paying for the performance speed and the Comcast rep said that I already got the speed increase to 36/6 from 12/2....so no 50/10 for me unless i pay more. oh well triple increase speed is not bad | |
|
| | | | | Re: Should i get a 3.0 modem? It's still better to replace your eMTA with a DOCSIS 3.0 because channel bonding will mean reliable speed and you'll be ready when there is another boost. | |
|
| | Got it! Power-cycled my eMTA and got the new speeds!

| +3 or so? Well, how about Cablevision boosting the upload a few megabits? As it is Verizon is 50/25 which is more like 50/30 - 35, therefore 10-15 is not asking for much. It's probably been at least 4 years since 50 megabit speeds came on the market, followed by 100 - 300. | |

dagg join:2001-03-25 Galt, CA | go faster! im already seeing the 25/5. didnt have to power cycle but they may have done that remotely overnight.
im only getting about 3.6 up though. not going to complain too much however because it was at 1 up when i checked a couple weeks ago.

| | performance speedbump in Fremont, CA I just power cycled my D3 modem and got the new speeds (in Fremont, CA). Unlike some of the comments which say the modem doesn't need to be power cycled, it did in my case. These two tests were run within a minute or two of each other. Once before the power cycle and once after.
speedof.me before power cycle: 17.5 / 3.3 Mbit/sec after power cycle: 30.12 / 6.11 Mbit/sec
While anything over what I need to stream netflix is overkill, it certainly is nice to have a bit of overkill.

| | Comcast I can verify that Comcast did a speed increase today. Elk Grove, southern end of Sacramento. The town that don't get it yet are the little ones in the middle of nowhere... | |
|
| | | Re: Comcast Yeah, but Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley getting it later is very strange. Residents around UCSC and the rich folk in Scotts Valley are low on the priority list.
I know there is a user from Santa Cruz here that won't be pleased of the wait.

I doubt that it's true but we will just have to see so NOBODY get your hopes up yet as Comcast should be re-named to LieCast.
|
| | What if? What if your already on the 105/20? Do you not get an upgrade? | |
|
| | | Re: What if? You're supposed to get a price reduction to whatever the price was for the Ultra 50 plan. | |

| | Time Warner too slow We have Docsis 3 over here and are only seeing 15/2, 20/2, 30/5, and 50/5... Wish we had Comcast over here instead . | |

| | Increase in errors/latency? After rebooting the modem, I saw the jump in speed, but I'm also seeing a jump in errors and latency. Is this something that will settle out, should I reboot the modem again, or contact Comcast?

| | San Jose, California upgraded today Earlier today and last night I was seeing the old speeds. This evening I rebooted my cable modem and ran a test which confirms the new upgraded speed was rolled out here. I'm on "Blast!" which was 25Mbps, it's now 50/10.
55Mbps down / 11 Mbps up | |

We still don't have the speed increases here in Mendocino County in Northwestern California. I'm in Redwood Valley, about halfway between Ukiah and Willits and am on the Blast Tier (25/4. 30/6 with Powerboost), this is what we see-

However, San Jose is 170 miles south of me, not 50
