Exactly. Every home brew application that Comcast has tried to roll out has been a complete piece of garbage.
How about that Comcast security suite before they went with McAfee? POS.
I'm not installing anything Comcast or their new contracted group wants me to add to my computer. No Thanks.

Obviously you would need to subscribe to the premiums to get access to them online.
You really think they would let Comcast put their content online available to only basic subscribers?

| In A More Ideal World... Every ISP is strictly a dumb pipe, which doesn't try to push other services as well. The cable companies would just stream video over the Internet, using PS3s, Roku boxes, etc. for TVs. And, there would be fast Internet everywhere (and I don't mean lousy 768K/384K DSL).
While this would mean that each cable company could potentially have more customers (even Internationally), of course it'd mean that they'd have to actually compete for your business, since they would compete with other similar companies and the likes of Netflix.
If this day will ever come, we're a very long way off. The problem comes from competing interests. In this case, the cable companies have an interest in preventing, or making it more difficult for customers to use Internet video services, since it can eat into revenues they would otherwise have.

No link to what this is, or privacy policy, or, well, anything except its installer. I live in the anti-malware world, and naturally, the fake codec scenario comes to mind - it works the same way, except when you download and run that EXE, you get malware.

| | | | | | | Re: Install something?
ahulett,
Hey bud about the installation, it is no big deal. What you have to install as the Comcast Infinity Player is simply the Move Media Player from Move Networks. Just about every online steaming company uses them such as NBC, CBS, Hulu, FOX, USA Network, SyFy, etc... The reason rody_44 didn't have to install anything is that he already had the player installed from watching TV on one of the other networks I named above.
I didn't want to install the player either but it is actually quite good. It enables HD video even on low quality or speed computers! EG: My wifes' computer is a netbook and is OK for most things except video viewing. Anything above 480p using Adobe Flash causes the screen to flicker and chug. She can't even view YouTube correctly if it's set to anything higher than 480p HQ. This applies for both windowed viewing and full-screen. However after installing the Move Media Player streaming add-on it ran great! On her netbook she can now watch full-screen video without any issues; in HD yet! I wish YouTube would use their player as she still can't watch it well full-screen. Whatever this app does it seems to take the streaming video feed load off the slow processor and what resembles a video card and simply plays. Every show plays without issue! This also applies to the other sites I named as she can now watch content on those sites without issue.

BF69Premium join:2004-07-28 Camden, TN | Pointless Ye I understand that Comcast doesn't want people cutting the cord, but then if you are require to have cable then this product has no point to it. If someone has Comcast internet that should be all you need. Comcast should look at it as away of getting mroe interent customers and not something that takes away video customers. People are going to either cut the cord or go with satellite if they really want to and this product isn't going ot make them stay. Some day MAYBE these guys will "get it".

| | Works Great I love the service when I am out and about... such as a library. If a college student lives in a dorm... they can use their parents comcast services to create an e-mail for them. Then they can watch all the premium channels they want, as long as the account is subscribed to them.
I normally bring my laptop over a friends house... hook it up to the TV via VGA, and I stream many HBO series.. and much more.
There are zero advertisements to watch premium shows... only "free TV" shows... which NBC, ABC, etc. already do on their own sites anyway.
