| Re: Yep, Yeah tivo likes to give out quality products albeit they are usually a bit crippled, but they are solid and stable.
On the other hand I think comcast may be back peddling because tivo didn't give them the ok.
Side note. Why would they rape us for a tivo add on to the boxes. Why not just role out the tivo firmware to every dvr for free, I mean really we already pay a small fortune for a dvr now. -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!"

| Re: Yep, A small fortune for a dual-tuner HD DVR? Do you realize how much the HD Tivo cost currently? They cost around $700-800 unless there happens to be a good deal online somehwere. The Comcast Dual-tuner HD DVR is (in my area) $5 more a month then a standard cable box......seems like a much better deal to me! If it breaks I can get a replacment the same day if needed at a service center for free.
Personally I think its a good deal, and don't really feel like I'm paying a small fortune for it

If we are waiting until next year, the price of the series 3 may be down enough to justify paying for that instead! I guess we will wait and see. I went to dish network and I love their vip 622. I liked the directivo my parents had but they lacked enough hd content to keep me interested.
I am only still with comcast because they offered a good retention package -- "It's always funny until someone gets hurt......and then it's absolutely friggin' hysterical!"

| How stupid is this statement: ?
We need to make sure it can be successful both from a technology and from a market standpoint," says Mark Hess, Comcast Senior Vice President of Business and Product Development.
He himself _knows_ that the TiVo interface makes the current Comcast set-top user interface look like a pile of steaming dog shit in the midst of an Alaskan winter, yet he is making these mootly standoffish, 'cautionary' statements about whether the TiVo would succeed from a technological/business standpoint.
Talk about hidden, double agendas ... I do respect Comcast, but when some dimwit VP comes out with statements like this, what are we supposed to think of the company?? It just looks really bad, almost as bad as having an oil-industry sponsored environmental study on the planetary effects (or "lack" thereof) of global warming ...
