Comcast To Relaunch Internet Video Platform Next Month
Featuring 'a less cumbersome sign-on and authentication process'
Late last year Comcast unveiled a beta version of a new Internet video service named Xfinity. Comcast loved the Xfinity name so much, in February of this year they expanded the brand name to cover all Comcast services in a marketing counterpunch to the Verizon FiOS brand of services. Meanwhile, after getting mixed reviews, their Xfinity Internet video platform (Comcast's version of TV Everywhere) remained in beta, but the company today stated they hope to relaunch the entire platform next month with "a less cumbersome sign-on and authentication process" and support for additional devices and platforms. The effort is tied, in part, to the fact that Comcast has lost roughly 160,000 basic broadcast customers so far this year.

How so? Other than the hard to get authorized issues, the offerings were as good or better than Hulu.

If you're paying $60 a month for Comcast. Also what about people that don't live in a Comcast service area. What if they were interested? That is the main reason why it's stupid. You offer something like this to potential customers you CAN'T reach.

the whole having to run an applet to "activate" a computer was stupid. it would have been better to just use your comcast.net login as the primary authorization.

Comparing apples and oranges are ya?

Their Online TV service isn't meant to be 'every channel available at any time in linear format' or 'live access to your dvr' either... so yea, its pretty much comparing apples and oranges, but I have to agree with you because I personally do enjoy my sling.

Cumbersome indeed

quote:
. . . relaunch the entire platform next month with "a less cumbersome sign-on and authentication process"
Yea, I have to logon TWICE at comcast.net just to reach Customer Central. If I wanna logon with another email address, have to sign off my current logon, and then logon TWICE again to go to Customer Central.

Cumbersome indeed . . . and damned annoying.
