| Comcast, how about updating your existing inferior guide. The downside is that the x1 is only be offered to triple play customers. Those that are tech wavy enough to appreciate the apps and features that the x1 offers will not have a need for telephone service. I was told by a CSR that as an existing double play (tv & internet) customer that I would have to pay an extra $40 dollars a month to qualify for the x1. I already pay $135 a month for my services. Comcast needs to upgrade their pathetic IGuide software asap. Comcast is 10 years behind DirecTv and Dish. | |

kmand join:2002-05-06 Decatur, GA | Restrictions? I'm in Atlanta one of the areas that supposedly has X1. I've been told that it is only available to new customers and only then to the very most expensive Triple Play plan. I have Triple Play preferred but was told only Triple Play Premier and only new customers qualify.
Is it any less restrictive anywhere?

| Re: Restrictions? I am in the Atlanta market as well. I was told the same as you were. Comcast is only interested in offering a new guide for monetary gain. It cares nothing about customer satisfaction. Besides, from what I have read in the Comcast forum - the X1 guide and boxes are riddled with bugs. It appears that it is still in beta testing. | |

| | What to expect from these new DVR boxes? I have been waiting for this new box to come to the philly area for a long time and I am very happy to hear its almost hear. However I been reading a lot of bad things about this new box. Users saying they are very buggie and in some ways have less features then the older DVR boxes that most people are using now. The only thing I know I like for sure about the new DVR box from what I have seen is the new HD On Screen Guide with the channel logos looks very pretty. But I have heard some bad things like you can only record 1 thing at a time instead of 2 like you currently can. If this is true it makes no sense because I thought this new box has 6 tuners? I guess over time this new box will improve a lot but it the beginning of its life it sounds like users are going to have to deal with a lot of bugs and less features.
The current DVR boxes are buggy as hell so I can't see how these new boxes could be any worse.

But it's a CRT HDTV WIDE SCREEN It has HDMI so it is "modern" -- Well, does your car at least turn into something else? Sometimes I turn it into a trashcan. Hmm...

Still, the old guides and set top boxes are an embarrassing joke compared to DirecTV, Dish, U-verse, FiOS, etc. You think they'd be eager to modernize in the face of competition.

| | | | Easy questions, hard to find answers about the X1 platform, hope you can help. How many programs can you record while watching Live TV? Can non X1 standard def STB’s and/or CableCard enabled devices be used at the same local with the X1 platform?
Thanks Gregg | |
