Connexion Lives Sort of..thanks to Panasonic Wi-Fi Networking News points out that Panasonic may step in and breath life back into Boeing's now deceased in-flight broadband service, Connexion. "This is not a sale of assets, but rather Panasonic Avionics Corporation may use Connexion by Boeings general approach in a way that would allow airlines that have already deployed Connexion to make a simple and relatively quick transition," notes Glenn Fleishman. InFlight On-line notes Panasonic has a lighter and cheaper system "designed, developed and ready to go," which they're willing to migrate former Connexion customers to.

I can't blame them for wanting to get out of something that won't build on their dying coffers. Panasonic may help and improve things, because they are going out on a limb to invent a system that is cost effective and easy to employ. This will be an interesting story to watch as it develops. | |

|  |  | | Re: get dis service re-started.... I honestly don't think that Connexions was that unreasonably priced for new technology. I'd love to pay less, don't get me wrong, but I would buy Connexions.
The problem is that many Fortune 500s were telling their workers that they would not be reimbursed for this expense. I'd love to hear from people who worked for the consulting firms (and other corporate road warriors) about whether there was a bar on them buying things.
I don't work for such a firm, but my wife and sister both do and I hang out with a number of corporate road warriors. It is funny how prices which are "reasonable" when the company pays for it are "extortionate" when they have to personally pop for the same. Therein lies the problem with Connexions.
