Cox Announces Broadband And TV Rate Hikes
Cox is informing customers in numerous markets that they'll be seeing rate hikes on both TV and broadband services starting on March 1. The company is telling users in Virginia the Cox TV Essential package will jump 7.4% to $68. Cox's TV Starter package, their most basic option, will see a 17.3% increase to $25 a month. Their TV Economy package is also seeing a 11.4 percent hike. While programming is blamed for the hikes, Cox, like most cable companies, is raising the rates for broadband and set top rentals as well. Basic DVR service will jump 20% from $10 to $12. Cox's Record 6 DVR service will jump 33.4% from $15 per month to $20 per month. Most broadband tiers in the region are also slated to see increases of between $2 and $5 a month.

Re: Hey!

New Docsis 3 Modems are a hardware requirement for most internet speed tier increases. Call Cox and ask for a free modem. It's my understanding it will be free if you subscribe to 2 of their services.

And this is why i just keep basic Dish Network

I pay $31/mo and still have HBO/Showtime. Cox wanted around $55 after set top rental and fees for the same setup.

Ripoffs as usual

dropped cox for video services after the bill shock a few weeks ago...

opened my bill -- saw that it had increased by about 12% across video and data services. did the math, i was paying nearly $125 for (1) dvr, (2) hd boxes, and cox's "advanced tv" package.

unreal.
called and tried to get them to play ball. they wouldn't have it. so i dropped them. very much enjoyed making that call.

Same here tubbynet. I was a tv,phone, hsi subscriber for 10 years. Now just hsi since I have no other viable options in my area. I enjoy Cox but the prices no longer match the quality of the services. Sorry guys.

Re: dropped cox for video services after the bill shock a few weeks ago...

i only have their hsi product. clink doesn't serve a single stretch of my neighbourhood that i happen to reside in. their data product is nice (albeit a little pricey [25/5 for $62.99+tax]).
i'm on video with dtv now -- ends up being about $75.99/month over the 24month contract.
