Cox Raises Triple Play Bundle Price
Bumps some bundlers to faster service tier
by Karl Bode Wednesday 09-Jan-2008 tags: prices · bandwidth · bundles · Cox HSI
Cox speeds and prices vary depending on region, but several users have written in to note that Cox Arizona is sending their customers a letter stating they'll be raising their triple-play bundle (Digital Cable, Preferred HSI, Connection 60 Phone) price by $10 per month (from $99.95 to $109.95). Users say Cox has been signing up new customers at this price point for a while.

Users do get something with the increase; Cox triple play customers on the "Preferred" tier (up to 9Mbps depending on your market) will be bumped to the "Premiere" tier (up to 15Mbps depending on your market). Users are also being told they'll see a 25% discount off of pay-per-view films.

Some of our users who were already on the Premiere tier say they're actually seeing a decrease in their bills. Says one of our forum users:

"Here is how mine panned out: $10 increase on the bundle minus $15 decrease as I pay for Premier.
Net: $5 decrease to overall bill. Thanks, Cox! Plus, I use PPV alot so the 25% discount will be nice.

At least they are giving away something with the increase...

It's a letter not an email...

And in AZ BTW...

Its been $109.95 for awhile for new customers. This change was only for existing customers who had originally had the $99.99 price.

Where's the ACC?

Nice that they can raise rates whenever they want to....

yawn

So basically it works out to being forced onto premiere and you get a $5 discount on it[shouldn't complain because new users aren't getting anything]
edit: no grandfathering?

Prices are hardly ever grandfathered forever.... It was Grandfathered at $99.95 for over a year while new subs paid $109.95

Re: yawn

I called and asked. New users in the $109.95 bundle will get Premier and the 25% discount as well. Not bad. The Qwest bundle for around $102 only offer 1.5M DSL.

(edit) BTW, it never hurts to pick up the phone and ask instead of speculating and making flat statements here like they are gospel.

Cox Bundles

We just upgraded to Cox bundle (we had cox digital cable and HSI).

The one thing that really gets to me, and Cox never mentioned, is the fact that the phone being digital, it doesn't play very well with our analog alarm system!!! Don't know if we would have switched knowing that.

And I was told by a Cox tech here in Phoenix that Cox will be raing their speeds sometime in Feb. That should be interesting.

Re: Cox Bundles

You should take this alarm issue to the Cox forum where there are Cox reps there to help. »Cox HSI
I know folks with the Cox phone service and they have alarm systems that work fine. You should also register with BBR so the Cox reps can PM with you. Good luck.

prweegar,

Could you register with the forums and send me a PM. I'd be happy to look into the issues you're having. Most of the other Cox representatives that frequent this forum are on the Cox HSI forum which myself and Matt (AZHSISupport) help out the Arizona market. Feel free to PM either one of us if you have any issues with your service.

Thanks,
