Cox Unclear if They'll Offer iPhone 4S Despite Now Being Sprint MVNO Now that Sprint has finally gotten the iPhone, will Cox Communications offer the device to customers now that they're effectively a Sprint MVNO? In a rambling, not-really-specific statement to Light Reading the company really doesn't say, though by the choice of language you get the impression the answer is no. "Our handset strategy is to offer customers a competitive lineup that provides customers a choice," says a spokesman. "We have something for everybody -- from the easy-to-use feature phone to state-of-the-art smartphones -- and we will continue to evaluate our handset portfolio and offer new devices along the way."

acrowl join:2001-08-08 California, KY | Is this a joke? There is no way in hell Sprint would let one of its MVNO's sell this phone. Truthfully, I think Apple would be the one to shut this down even before it would be considered.
And before someone posts about how Sprint needs to sell a ton of these handsets. Not even all of Sprint sales channels will have this handset available to them. Ever.
So Cox can continue to act like they own their own network (got cold feet about that plan). Otherwise, they are just an old fashioned glorified reseller.
| | | | Re: Is this a joke? as with 99% of all the other companies that offer cell phone service. Sprint stores will be the only stores that will offer the iPhone besides Apple and maybe a few high-end stores- like Best Buy Mobile. but otherwise agents can kiss that dream good bye. | |

| Finally! Cox serve you first time with Apple iPhone 4S? Really?
Well... IF Cox serve to use Cox and Verizon Wireless, I would enjoy to use it with Verizon 4G LTE and Cox 4G X..
How's difference with 4G LTE and 4G X: 4G LTE serve most smartphone 4G average 10 to 30mbps 4G X serve you 100mbps with less power on new iPhone 4S
Will you buy it?
no thanks.. | |

Although Sprint will allow their dealer network to sell the phone. But there is a certain level of buy in for fixtures and demo phones. Plus you must have a location that is branded as a Sprint store.
At the end of the day the corporate stores will still have all the love.
