DOCSIS1.1 May 16th? by IGGY Saturday 10-May-2003 The DOCSIS1.1 may be taking place a little sooner than a few of us expected. The date for the upgrade may be as early as May 16th. This is of course just speculation on my part.:D We'll have to wait to see how this plays out. But it will be interesting to see what new speed packages or services might be offered after the upgrade.

| Re: I can only hope All I know now is that Thursday and Friday we should see the upgrade start to take place. I have no information in regards to any new speed packages etc. I to will be interested to see what new services come out after the upgrade. With the DSL providers now starting to offer cheaper prices and tiered packaging. Cable companies are going to have to offer similar types of service offerings to stay competitive. This new post may be a confirmation on the above as well »Louisville, KY area Mx May 13 Update - the notice at the above link has nothing to do with the DOCSIS 1.1 upgrade. It's an entirely different matter. It was just speculation that the 2 might be related. I was in fact wrong on this one.
Update 2 - another clarification is in order. This upgrade will most likely be like the Tier upgrade was. Different areas will see this take effect at different times. So not all areas will go "live" at the same time. But it is still my understanding that the upgrade will start being phased in on or around May 16th. -- Test Your Security Team Z Member Cable Modem Diagnostics InsightBB 3000/384 XP PRO [text was edited by author 2003-05-13 08:58:32]

Everyone might want to read this post »Re: DOCIS 1.0 to 1.1?
"Any DOCSIS 1.0 modem will work with 1.1 assuming you do not have any other RF related issues. 1.1 is backwards compatible with 1.0 modems"
This should set some users minds at ease. [text was edited by author 2003-05-15 11:00:38]
