Dallas-Fort Worth dispute over tracks may slow rail plans

DALLAS — Another Fort Worth-versus-Dallas battle is brewing.

A dispute between the Fort Worth Transportation Authority and Dallas Area Rapid Transit threatens to delay construction of a commuter rail line from southwest Fort Worth to Grapevine and Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.

The Fort Worth agency, also known as the T, and DART are at odds over 22 miles of the old Cotton Belt line in northern Tarrant County.

The T wants to buy the tracks to complete its 40-mile commuter rail route. DART isn’t interested in selling.

The T may be allowed to lease the line, DART President Gary Thomas said.
