An automated external defibrillator for the home can now be sold over the counter, federal officials said Thursday.

How long do you all think it will take before some kid gets arrested for defibrillating their teacher's butt? I wished I was a kid again, I could have so much with this thing they would make it illegal.:p:D Oh well.

Doesn't work. These defibrillators will only shock when a known irregular heartbeat is picked up by through the pads. Without any heartbeat or a good one it will not allow you to shock the patient.

I see them appearing in more and more public places (airport, library) around here.

Most people think that the jolt starts the heart. Quite the opposite, it stops it so the muscle can convert the coarse ventricular fibrillations into Normal Sinus Rhythm.
