According to Newsfactor, Apple has released a fix for supposed 3G iPhone connectivity problems that may actually make the problem worse, not better. A firmware update released this week to tackle dropped calls and indiscriminate switching between AT&T's EDGE and HSDPA broadband networks seems to have caused new problems, including issues with the phone's GPS functionality. Other than a supposed brief comment from Steve Jobs, Apple has yet to address the connectivity problems officially. Some analysts believe the problems lie with the device's Infineon chip and are not firmware upgradeable, but the Apple devoted remain optimistic.
