DirecTV will be publicly launching the ability to remotely schedule DVR Recordings on or about January 17th. This is a 'soft launch' - meaning that you will have the capability to do this when it becomes available. The official announcements/publication of the service will happen sometime in February.

Called 'Remote Booking' during the Beta Test phase, you need a free account on DirecTV.com to access the service. From the TV listing page, the option to "record to receiver" will be available when you expand the title of a show.


A pop-up window will allow you to select which DVR (if you have more than one) you wish to use to record the show.



A second option will be available for low bandwidth mobile devices (cell phones/pda's) by going to »m.directv.com,
which allows you to do rudimentary searches for shows/channels and schedule from a listing of events.
