Disney's streaming subscribers hit 205.6M globally in Q2: Disney+ added 7.9M

Personally, I think Verizon's "free Disney+" is propping them up, big time. Netflix is so huge that it's probably hard to separate their subscriber numbers out between those who pay and those who are getting it through T-Mobile. But despite my moral opposition to paying for anything Disney-related, my hand was forced by the family. I suspect most people who are eligible for "free Disney+" through Verizon are signing up whether they want it, use it, or not. And that still pads Disney's subscriber numbers, even if those subscribers aren't paying full rate subscriptions. If they both released subscriber revenue intake, I bet Netflix is beating them handily.

If I could choose any other streaming service to be paid for by Verizon, whether that be Netflix, HBO Max, or Apple TV+ (which I don't know why they don't do since they already offer Apple Arcade and Apple Music with their plans); I'd take any of them over Disney. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd much rather have ATV+ for The Morning Show, For All Man Kind, and Friday Night Baseball over whatever cartoons Disney+ has to offer.

To be completely honest, I'd rather them just give me $10/mo back and not offer any "free" streaming subscriptions at all.

The Netflix Nickel-And-Diming Is Probably Only Just Getting Started

Every chance I get, I tell T-Mobile to offer another streaming service other than Netflix. They could be testing those waters when they offer Apple TV to anyone upgrading or getting a iPHone or they offered Paramount+ last year, free for a year. I'm sure it might be cheaper in the long run anyway.

But as far as Netflix changing plans, I guess they gotta do what they gotta do to survive. I have to wonder if they changed to a 90/180/365 type contract where you pay upfront and it got a little cheaper with each their if the Netflix fanboi's would stay?
