AT&T’s recent $3 billion acquisition of wireless phone service provider Dobson Communications spells an end to the company’s 20-year stint in the industry. However, founder Everett Dobson doesn’t see it that way. He points to the fact that the telecom industry is one which is built on mergers and acquisitions. Dobson itself made over 30 acquisitions in its 20 years of operation; turning itself over to AT&T is just part of the game. Dobson says that the company will continue to have an impact on wireless communications even after the acquisition. How exactly that's going to happen remains unclear.
