Dolan Cablevision Deal in Trouble?
Largest shareholder will vote against deal...
Cablevision's largest shareholder, ClearBridge Advisors, says they're going to vote against the Dolan family’s $10.6 billion proposed buyout of the company, putting the privatization deal in serious jeopardy.
quote:
ClearBridge, which owns 31.4 million shares, or 13.6 percent of Cablevision, said in a statement that it “does not feel that the shareholders are being adequately compensated” for the value of Cablevision’s future cash flow or its collection of assets.
ClearBridge is the third large investor who plans to vote against the deal. The Dolan family needs 50% approval of public shareholders to get the deal done -- only 22% of the remaining shareholders need to vote "no" to scrap the deal.

Re: poor jimmy

i'm not a cablevision customer... i would rather have dial-up than give them my hard earned money. i'm lucky enough to live in TWC territory and I have NYConnect as my ISP and D* as my television services.

Re: poor jimmy

Wow...so instead of paying cablevision, you would rather get stuck with NYC's MAX of 5Mbps / 384Kbps.

Pffttt...who would want 15/2, for the same price/cheaper, or even 30/5+?

So you still didn't give a reason why they "suck"?

Re: poor jimmy

why do they suck?.....

b/c they do everything than can to keep channels away from DBS so they don't have to be competitve price wise. if their services are so good, why have they been afraid to give MSGHD and FSNNY-HD to the sat providers? .... i'll tell you why, b/c they know a huge chunk of their subs will leave them for dbs b/c they have much more to offer and for less money.

would i like to have 15/2 service... sure, but given the option to choose cablevision (15/2) or NYConnect(8/512) for the same price. i'll take NYConnect.

I would love to be a Cablevision customer over that of a TWC customer. Their cable internet service blows away TWC's.

Too bad an under the table handshake deal between the two cableco's prevent someone like me and others from switching to their service.

Go away troll. Cablevision is the onlly cable company truly competing with verizon fios. I dont see any other cable companies offering 38/5 connections?(yes 38 since they uncapped the download and thats the max a cable node can take with overhead figured in)

Without cablevision fios would be costing $100 a month .

That's the limitation of a channel. The node has no limit, as it's simply a media converter.

hahah.. i love it. someone doesn't share the same opinion as you and they are a troll. gotta love bbr.

so cablevision territory is the only place FIOS exists? so why doesn't Verizon charge $100 for FIOS in MD/VA/etc if jolly old james dolan isn't there to save the day with cablevision?

Re: poor jimmy

Have you even looked at whats available in cablevision territories and whats not when it comes to fios? Considering the same speeds and prices arent available throughout every fios area proves what i said.

Considering you dont have any optimum services that makes you a troll.

Cablevision atleast in the nyc metro avenue has been keeping fios prices in check. if cablevision goes under then fios prices will go up I can guarentee that.

Re: poor jimmy

how absurd of me to comment on a service provider that serves the nyc area (in which i live). i wasn't aware that i had to be a current optimum customer in order to post a comment. i retract everything i said.... hoooray cablevision! james dolan for prez!

good

Imagine is Cablevision goes private and daddy Dolan leaves control of Cablevivion to young Jimmy.. Daddy has to leave it to someone......young Jim has completely destroyed the New York Knicks and the Garden. Once a great franchise now a joke thanks to little Jimmy, poor little rich kid.. .

Re: good

By the same logic, would you say that James Dolan is on the verge of creating an NHL powerhouse with the Rangers team he has put on the ice this season?

I didn't mention the Rangers because I don't follow hockey. know nothing about the sport....... can't say whether he did good or not for the Rangers although they haven't had a championship season since.... was it 94?
