Different mergers, different countries, different rules

Google’s acquisition of DoubleClick has stirred up some anti-trust concerns in the United States. However, it seems that where the deal is going to face real trouble isn’t here but over in Europe. Essentially, there are two types of mergers that are looked at in anti-trust litigation (source).
“One is a non-horizontal merger, in which two companies in compatible but different lines of businesses are seeking to expand into new markets by merging, such as America Online's acquisition of Time Warner. The other type of merger is a horizontal merger, in which two companies in largely identical businesses are seeking to capture a larger bite of the market, as in the Oracle-PeopleSoft merger.”
The DoubleClick acquisition falls under the category of a non-horizontal merger. Here in the United States, those types of mergers are rarely pursued by legal authorities. However, the legal approach in Europe has differed and the European Commission is now intensively reviewing the DoubleClick acquisition. If they determine that DoubleClick could have grown large enough to compete with Google, they will consider this acquisition to be an anti-trust violation.

Also the EU doesn't like US businesses dominating in Europe

They also may oppose this merger on political grounds, though that won't be admitted. The EU has a history of sticking it to big US companies(like IBM, Microsoft, & Apple) because for nationalistic and competitive business reasons they don't want US companies dominating all the EU companies.

The Google/Doubleclick merger would unite 2 advertising behemoths and could potentially shut out EU businesses from this lucrative and "culture altering"(advertising does that) marketplace.

If the US FTC raises objections based on Congressional pressures, I expect the EU will see that as a green light to try and block the merger.

EU is/has been much more regulated on everything than the U.S.
Even their own wireless system is much more regulated/expensive than the U.S.... but because of regulation, it typically works better.

Media in general... many news papers/tv/radio don't censor for content like they do here.

Except all the media, the wireless service, the airline industry etc etc - these are all much less controlled and/or more competitive thus resulted better services, better market.
This 'America is better for business' is utter BS - it's ended decades ago, now it's a good place for only "uncontrolled giants and monopolies, nobody else.

My complaint is that doubleclick has so many dam names it takes forever to block in a router or a host file.
Anyone know anyway to get dc all in one filter?
