E-Mail Problems Still Plague Fairpoint Users
A week after transfer, Fairpoint swamped with complaints...
by Karl Bode 08:44AM Tuesday Feb 10 2009
After Verizon officially transferred ownership of their Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont networks last weekend to Fairpoint Communications, countless users experienced an inability to access their e-mail. Despite's Fairpoint's insistence last weekend that they're working to resolve the problem, posts to our Fairpoint forum indicate that customers still can't access e-mail a week later. A repeated complaint from users is they can't access Fairpoint technical support -- the company's support line is endlessly busy, and support chat requests via the company's website consistently go unanswered. Fairpoint, meanwhile, insists to us that complaint rates are dropping.

Stop the spin...

It doesn't work. Your answers don't match with what people are saying. Lying is worse than admitting to a problem that might not be fixed promptly.

I know what you mean

Oh it does, I've had similar issues.

When you call, they refer to to chat chat room and I was on the chat room for oh three hours or more yesterday to no reply. Back to Comcast even though it's not so Comcastic.

If our state had balls they would've given Verizon the go-ahead to roll out their TV service. But nope, we vote in assclowns that pander to Comcast.

You would have been sold off regardless if they put in FiOS.

You sound a little like Chris Jericho. "After moving to Fairpoing with these assclonws, my broadband will never, ever be the same again!"

Comcast really busy becuse of Fairpoint .

My Landlord ordered Comcast Internet last week but they had to cancel on him because they said they have such a large backlog of Fairpoint customers moving to Comcast for phone and internet .So he called Fairpoint (against my advice) and they cant even get it together to send a self install kit or tell him if his address is even serviceable .

E-Mail Problems Still Plague Fairpoint Users

I have tried to call many times eithier it said please call back, busy or it would say please contact us online for tech chat. Ya how many times and hrs did I spend waiting for them to answer online chat. Good news is that you can get through to custermer service just for them to say sorry our computers or not up.

Not to diminish the problem, but If I knew my provider was being sold, merged, going under, I would have switched to a web based email till It got over the "speed" bumps of the sale/switch etc., and steered everyone to that. Peace

Amen, brother. I am amazed at people who still rely on ISP email as their only email source...

Re: There is no problem w/ the emails......Everything is rosy

I agree with Baghdad Bob there... if there was any Verizon mail account, it is lost in the desert...

I am glad that I also have all of the mail available at an online account I have had for years.

FairPoint still hasn't correctly migrated all of my phone lines, so I don't see that my email is a big priority to them...

Blame Fairpoint execs and state regulators that allowed this

Look.
My nephew works smack in the middle of this fiasco. The yahoos from the south (sorry southern DSL members, but some of you do refer to northerners as yankees...even if we were never born here around the Civil War era) think they can pull one over.

They are forwarding support to Mississippi (who must have a helluva time with understanding each other), they aren't paying overtime (law allows extended work without OT if its emergency so Fairpoint declares its an emergency their systems aren't up to spec). Matter of fact, I doubt many FP employees in VT and other states are getting correct pay in their paystubs.

Honestly, Verizon pulled a successful snub getting out of 6 million in taxes/debt, owns quite a share in Fairpoint (did you know that?) and will likely watch this crumble after a year, and buy back into it like some hero, washed anew of any debt, with customers begging them back.

BTW, Fairpoint's trainers (mostly consultants from Alabama or Georgia) don't allow the users to know half the features of the software THEY (Fairpoint employees) are to train their own staff on! Way to go, Fpoint!

All I can say is " Puddin ". (quoted from the Fairpoint boss himself...knucklehead)

Re: Blame Fairpoint execs and state regulators that allowed this

this is unbelievable because actually Verizon got $500 mill in tax writeoff and own 9 out of the 12 seats in the board of directors for FP also if you went to yahoo finance and looked up FP it said it is subsidiary of verizon.......Ver wa sin talks w/Nashua NH to run FIOS TV and they just walked away. I know an engineer who worked for Verizon 10 years ago and then they where still trying to get rid of the lines but couldnt. Also in Manchester NH the 3 buildings verizon owned they where givin a tax break till 2008 and would have to pay taxes on the buildings and polls and such.I think the FEDS should investigate VER and Fp for fraud because this transaction looks fishey like Ver did this to come back in and do whatever they want. If they do say bye bye to any community tv stations PBS or any other things in a franchise agreement

fairpoint earthlink and DSL

No one is interested least of all Fairpoint that they have totally disrupted my business by eliminating my connection to the internet (yeah I'm on 40k DIAL UP) as I work on line and need my email AND high speed net access to work. No work no pay - no DSL no work.
I bought my DSL through my ISP earthlink.
Dumped comcast for direct tv last fall (and hey I had direct tv television during the ice storm no problems AND DSL from Verizon once my generator was running while my neighbors had nothing)
So you call the NH Utilities commission and they never call you back. Fairpoint is so clueless they don't even know what the problem is if you call them.
Earthlink claims they are working with Fairpoint but its day 9 and they have NO IDEA when the problem will be fixed.
Who is going to reimburse me for total loss of my income because Fairpoint can't write a conversion plan let alone execute one?
