For the second time in two weeks, EarthLink Inc. is reporting it has helped bust up a Internet spam ring.
The Atlanta-based Internet service provider said evidence gathered by its fraud and abuse team has led to the arrest of two men in Florida who allegedly sent more than 25,000 e-mail messages using PeoplePC accounts. PeoplePC is a subsidiary of EarthLink.
U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida R. Alexander Acosta has charged Jared Cosgrave and Mohammed Haque with fraud and related activity in connection with e-mail in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act. Both have pled guilty to the charge filed.
