| | | Re: will you get that netbook like that free tv that people had The notebook will be easily redeemable as it is provided via a coupon redeemed at HP. The caveat is as long as the notebooks are available, but that should be extensive.
Even if the notebook in question is not redeemable "much later" in the promotion, the $299 coupon will still be redeeable for other HP products.

| | I'd love to get in on this, but... I'll be moving to Portland, OR in two weeks and have all ready called Verizon to get my account transferred up there.
Nope, FiOS stops two blocks from where I'll be living and according to Verizon, no prospect of them ever extending service to the neighborhood. Heck I can't even get my existing DSL service reestablished there, it's "Qwest country" or so I'm informed.
So I guess I'll be getting that fabulous ComCraptic service I keep reading about here on DSLR.
And for you folks that would say 'move two blocks over'... It's very difficult to move an existing house that's been already fully paid for, twenty-five years ago. The house was willed to me and I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

In any case, Verizon is abandoning Oregon and Washington states within the next year anyway. So if one wants FiOS someday around here, make sure it's available NOW. I suspect that Frontier won't be expanding the FiOS boundaries much.

FiOS LIVESo fast, it's LIVE join:2008-11-25 Collegeville, PA | D-NY get special treatment..AGAIN Just take a look at »Re: Any new Speed tiers? You can't tell me that D-NY doesn't get exclusive deals compared to everyone else in FiOS areas. I'm sure the argument is that they are in "more competitive" areas but that's just not the full truth. Cablevision and FiOS compete in more areas than just D-NY and they arn't seeing the deals to make customers want to choose FiOS over Cablevision. The same can be said now for Comcast and FiOS in Philadelphia and its suberbs. If any region is "competitive" it would be inside of the backyards of both Cablevision and Comcast. This is where we should be seeing these special deals extended to and not just D-NY.
Of course it'd be ideal to just equally price and offer the same deals across the whole FiOS footprint but that's never been done by Verizon. The closest we've gotten to that is right now where every FiOS area gets the same tiers - even though some areas get them cheaper than others but at least they can still order them. Now they're about to change that and who knows how long it'll be, if ever, until we see it evenly offered again. -- AT&T + Comcast Your world. Destroyed. Throttle and put a cap on it. | and? So just speed bumps, and no price reductions?
15/5 @ $44.95/dual play, vs 15/2 $29.95/dual play price isn't all that competitive on price.
And, the other shoe to drop later this year when cablevision/time warner revises their tiered mbit rates & pricing. Don't hold your breath for TWC to offer anything good in response, but expect a flood of their customers calling to switch as FIOS deploys & notifications go out.

I will take the 35/20 Tier which is a huge improvement over 20/5. man that will be better than Cablevision boost service but not as fast as the Ultra. The only difference is the speed from 20/20 to 35/20. I did sign up for it and will be turned on monday. The rep did not mention about the netbook offer but I will try to ask monday...

Apparently locking in for 1 year give you a 2 year price lock.. I wonder if this encourages Cablevision to raise both prices and speeds.. because they could easily match 25/15 for an extra $3-5 a month and you'd still have the advantage of no POTS taxes/fees added on (aka your bottom line price)
Factor in about +$12 in taxes/fees for FIOS phone line. They sure could use VOIP right about now, which would make this deal quite good.
