Salute to all those who lost a relative to military action on Memorial Day

Just taking a moment to remember those unknown faces who gave their lives while on duty and serving in the Military. As we mow our lawns, grill our burgers, kick back and enjoy the sun and a beer, there is a family somewhere who is missing a loved one or a friend who is not with us today because of their sacrifice. I know there are some here who don't care much for the military but these people are someone's son, a brother, husband, uncle or cousin. A heart felt thank you to those who served and those to are not with us today, thank you for your service.

Voice calling is finally making its way onto 5G

quote:
To be clear, there's no real rush to put most voice calls onto 5G because T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon all operate 4G networks that can handle the service just fine
It's some of the phones that are a problem.

Amazon dunking on Netflix's password rules

But amazon still blocks you from watching anything for using a VPN. So maybe they allow password sharing, but pay them $140 a year, use a VPN, and they block you.
IP location is not accurate in any way and there should be nothing wrong with using VPN. The future of the internet will be everyone using an independent VPN to have some level of privacy.

Twitter glitches plague...

...so does Elon NOW understand the need for 'excess' engineering and tech staff on duty with a clear "power cycle" plan in place?
All those hours 'wasted' at the water cooler or in in brainstorming sessions, thinking about technical and human induced what if's/how to respond might be a waste of time...if you are lucky. On the other hand that failed drive you thought could last a bit longer, or a DDoS (general disruption or topic specific attack). should have been solved in seconds or minutes instead gave the internet something worth Tweeting about ie is twitter really under
management's control? or just waiting for AI to bail them out.

looks like a couple exits from engineering already, some from the top, the next lesson is about the depth of the technical leadership bench ready to step in, step up or (rapidly) step away?

Amazon dunking on Netflix's password rules

I have to admit, Amazon's response is pretty funny. But never say never. WOW! promised NO CAPS for years, now we have caps. Though generous (I have 500/50 service and get 2.5tb), but still. So with Prime making out like "oh no, never will we lock down password sharing", who would have though returning something that arrived broke or not what was described on the sellers page, would make you jump through more hoops to get free return shipping (even if they just charge you a dollar), so, never say never.
