Starry to default on all RDOF bids - FCC [lightreading.com]

Starry is a fixed wireless ISP. Sounds like they are defaulting on their intention to pursue the bids and they have not received any money yet. They cant pass the next step of approval for credit and bankruptcy review.
"Set to receive $269 million to cover 108,506 locations in nine states with fiber and fixed wireless."
The FCC is also fining those that abandon their bids $3,000 per census block as a penalty for wasting everyone's time.

It looks like Starry is a very top heavy company, lots of expenses, and very few installs. Their balance sheet is a mess. They have 80K customers but yet could not be profitable. The strange part is they seemed to be focused on wireless for large apartment buildings which typically would already have wired internet from an incumbent. They were not focused on rural.

Bans

These bans are utterly ridiculous. If were banning economical equipment, we better ban TikTok, Tencent Games, etc. All this does is burden the working man.
