FTC Pulls ISP 3FN Offline For Spam, Scumware You won't be missed... According to Network World, the FTC managed to get a Judge to pull notorious ISP 3FN offline after a long history of hosting spam, botnets, phishing and assorted other malicious content. The ISP's networking and server hardware have been seized and will be auctioned off, and the ISP is also being forced to pay $1.08 million to the FTC. The FTC began the process back in June 2009 when a court issued a preliminary injunction against 3FN. At the time, spam volumes dropped by roughly 15% but quickly recovered as other unethical, cash-crazed nitwits rushed in to fill the void. More recently, the FTC showed the court "transcripts of instant-message logs from the defendants' senior employees discussing the configuration of botnets with bot herders," according to Network World.
