I think they already have....Andriod on HTC I know this. I bought one and returned it immediately.
Not only is it completely designed for Facebook and Twitter. There is the Andriod version, an HTC version and for me, an AT&T version. I'm sorry but didn't they just get busted for selling member info? And what about Yahoo's censorship deal with China? Anyway, Andriod internet purposefully steers you straight to google, yahoo, FB and Twitter, and then filters search content. (I think there is in app on there for making phone calls if you dig around enough).
But what is most stealth in this is Google. Remember how fast Google pulled the Nexus One?

It's called an Andriod now. Google is starting to frighten me.
The Andriod expects you to "understand" that Google will be collecting "anonymous" locational info to run the apps *without* GPS. I think that is what is known as a tracking device. And one independent of the carrier. Anonymous..I'm quite sure. I think TwitFace can vouch for that. It's like paying Big Brother to babysit.
Orwell must be rolling in his grave.
I know it will only get worse, yet for some reason "deeper integrations with some manufacturers." sounds even more sinister.
